- 450 g Beef Brisket Cut into bite size pieces
- 1/2 tbsp Fish sauce
- 1/2 tbsp Black Pepper Ground. Plus more for dressing the dish
- 3 tbsp Oyster Sauce
Sauce Ingredients
- 1 1/2 Cups Beef Stock
- 1 tbsp Light Soy Sauce
- 1/2 tbsp Dark Soy Sauce
- 2 tbsp Rice Wine
- 1 tbsp Brown Sugar
Other Ingredients
- 1 Large Onion Cut into slices
- 1 Green Pepper Cut into slices
- 3 Cloves Garlic Minced
- 1 tbsp Cornflour Mixed with 2 tbsp water to make a slurry
- 2 tbsp Vegetable Oil
Instructions
- Begin by marinating your beef, once all of the ingredients are together just spend 1 minute massaging it into the beef. This process will help break some of the muscle fibres down, making the beef even more tender. Place your heavy saucepan over a medium to high heat, add oil and then add your marinated beef, once browned on all sides, remove and place to one side. In the same pan add onion and brown, then add your garlic along with the peppers and cook for a further 1 minute or until fragrant. Now add your sauce ingredients, deglaze the bottom of the pan, now add your browned beef, once the sauce begins to come up to the boil turn down to very low, place the lid on and cook for 90 minutes or until your beef is super tender (if during this time your sauce begins to evaporate you can add more beef stock). To finish, give your corn flour slurry a mix and slowly pour it into the sauce stirring at the same time. Once the sauce thickens, switch off the heat. Serve on top of freshly steamed rice with a final sprinkle of freshly ground black pepper.
