1.4K

Dan Dan Noodles is a dish that masterfully balances a variety of flavours and textures, making it a perfect end to any Szechuan meal or a deliciously spicy meal on its own.

Dan dan noodles date back to the Qing Dynasty in China, which ruled from the mid-17th century to the early 20th century. The dish is believed to have originated as a street food sold by vendors known as “dandanxian,” who carried the noodles and sauce in baskets suspended from a bamboo pole (known as a “dan dan” in Chinese).

Dan dan noodles offer a comforting and satisfying eating experience, with tender wheat noodles bathed in a flavourful sauce and topped with savoury minced pork and crunchy peanuts or sesame seeds. The hearty and warming qualities of the dish make it a popular choice for chilly days or when craving a comforting and nourishing meal.
