Miso Glazed Trout — Big Flavour, Simple Cooking
There’s something special about a dish that feels restaurant-level but comes together without stress — and this miso glazed trout is exactly that.
Trout is one of those ingredients that doesn’t need much to shine. The natural richness of the fish pairs perfectly with a simple miso glaze, creating a balance of savoury, slightly sweet umami that caramelises beautifully as it cooks. The result is a dish that looks impressive, tastes incredible, and still feels relaxed enough for a weeknight dinner.
I’ve served mine with steamed rice, tender broccoli stems and roasted veggies and baby potatoes — a combination that gives you comfort, texture and plenty of flavour on the plate. It’s the kind of meal that feels wholesome without being heavy, and the sort of recipe you can cook once and then come back to again and again.
What I love most about trout is how versatile it is. You can bake it, pan-fry it, barbecue it or glaze it like this, and it always delivers. It cooks quickly, holds flavour well and makes an easy centrepiece when you want something that feels a little more special than the everyday.
This dish is also a great reminder that simple cooking often gives the best results. A handful of ingredients, good timing and a bit of confidence — that’s really all you need.
