Spicy Chicken Katsu’wich


The Spicy Chicken Katsu’wich combines the bold, crispy texture of chicken katsu with the exciting heat of spicy sauce. The chicken is breaded and fried to perfection, creating a golden, crunchy crust that contrasts beautifully with the juicy, tender meat inside. Adding a spicy sauce elevates the flavour profile, providing a tantalising kick that enhances the overall taste.

Spicy Chicken Katsu’wich

Inspired by all things Japanese this sandwich is not only a taste sensation but texturally its out of this world (Soft Bun, Crunchy cabbage and Crispy chicken).

  • 4 chicken breasts
  • 80 grams Japanese panko bread crumbs
  • flour
  • egg
  • salt
  • pepper
  • vegetable oil
  • 4 Brioche Buns
  • spicy miso sauce

Cabbage Salad

  • 1/4 head of white cabbage
  • 2 tsp sesame oil
  • 2 tsp apple cider
  • 2 tsp mirin
  • 1 tsp light soy sauce
  • 1 tsp toasted sesame seeds


Cabbage Salad 

  • Discard the core of cabbage and cut the rest into very very thin slices.
  • Whisk together sesame oil, cider, mirin and light soy sauce. Season to taste.
  • Mix this with sliced cabbage. Sprinkle sesame seeds onto cabbage.

Katsu Chicken 

  • Place chicken breast in a zip lock bag and using a rolling pin gentle flatten out.
  • Season your flattened out chicken breasts with salt and pepper before covering with flour first and then raw egg, then panko breadcrumbs.
  • Heat up the oil in a separate pan and carefully lower the cutlets into the oil and cook them for a few minutes on both sides until they become a golden brown colour.

Assemble Katsu'wich 

  • Slice brioche buns in half and lightly toast, add one the breaded chicken cutlets and top with the cabbage salad. Add spicy miso sauce to taste.
